2025 Taking GR in Grad School
It’s been a while since the last time that I took general relativity, it was actually back in undergrad. At that time I was so engaged with the subject and I wanted to do theoretical physics, however, at the end I decided to switch and do soft matter. And I don’t know I think I just wanted to write something about it and share something about my experience. GR was great, very heavy from the math side, something that I’ve always liked, but there was something missing; I had the feeling that I was just doing math but little physics. And I mean I really like math, but I’m a physicist so, I felt that something was wrong. Now I realize that it was just a naive perspective, and there’s a lot (like A LOT) of physics there. So this semester I decided to give it a shot again, and so far it has been great! This class is bringing me so many good memories, and even though I’m not doing research in that area I feel quite happy re-learning the material and looking at the ideas from a different perspective (my professor is not teaching the material in the conventional style). In any case, I just wanted to share some of my joy.
